I. University Profile

Jiangsu University is a key comprehensive university founded in August 2001 by merging the former Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, Zhenjiang Medical College and Zhenjiang Teachers’ College with the approval of the Ministry of Education. Ranked early in 1978 by the State Council among the top 88 key universities in China, Jiangsu University became one of the first institutions of higher learning in China entitled to conferring a master’s and a doctor’s degree. Jiangsu University ranks among top 1000 on such internationally reputed rankings as QS, THE and ARWU. The University came out 38th in 2021 Comprehensive China University Rankings. Co-sponsored by Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government, the Chinese Ministry of Education and the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the University ranks among the first batch of Jiangsu High-level Universities under construction, holds the honorary title of National Outstanding University for Undergraduate Teaching, and ranks among the first batch of 50 Sample Universities in China for High Employment of Graduates, the first batch of National Sample Universities for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the first batch of Chinese Universities with Quality Accreditation for the Education of International Students, and the National Pilot Universities for “Three-Whole Education” Comprehensive Reform.

Jiangsu University is the earliest institution of higher learning in China that offers an Agricultural Machinery Program and conducts a systematic education on agricultural machinery. We attach importance to producing talents and providing services to Jiangsu and the industry of agricultural machinery, keeping firmly in mind the mission of promoting China’s agricultural mechanization and modernization. We graduated the first batch of bachelors and masters in Agricultural Machinery and the first doctor and postdoc in Agricultural Machinery as well. The University has made positive contributions to the cultivation of Chinese talents for agricultural equipment and scientific and technological innovation, to the income increase of farmers, agricultural development and rural stability. A striking educational feature and unique cultural environment has been created in Jiangsu University highlighting “Integrating Agriculture into Industry and Supporting Agriculture by Industry”.

We boast a high level of education with a number of high-level disciplines. 12 disciplines, namely Engineering, Materials Science, Clinical Medicine, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Biology and Biochemistry, Environmental Ecology, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Computer Science, Botanical and Zoological Sciences, and General Social Sciences rank among the top 1% of ESI in the world, with Engineering，Chemistry，and Agricultural Science in the top 1‰. We have 2 national key disciplines, 1 national key discipline (under cultivation), 10 advanced disciplines of Jiangsu colleges and universities. We offer 15 doctoral programs of the first-level discipline, 45 master’s programs of the first-level discipline, and 21 categories of professional master’s programs. We house 13 centers for post-doctoral studies.

We have been constantly elevating the quality of talent cultivation by adhering to the guideline of “centering on students’ learning while exerting the leading role of teachers”. In recent years the University has won 8 teaching achievement rewards of the national level, accumulating plentiful high-quality teaching resources comprising 40 national first-class majors as well as a batch of national specialty majors, national first-class undergraduate courses, national quality courses, national quality open video courses, national quality icourses, national experimental teaching demonstration centers and national excellent teaching teams. During the 13th Five-year Plan period, the University won 847 projects sponsored by the National Natural Science Fund, ranking in the top 50 of Chinese universities for 6 consecutive years.

II. Forum Objective and Schedule

The 13th Jiangsu University Jinshan High-level Academic Forum is aimed at creating an online platform for the excellent talents to conduct academic exchanges via lectures, recruitment negotiations, academic exchanges on campus, etc., to promote the integration of multiple disciplines and international cooperation, to recruit talents for the construction of Jiangsu University into a “high-level, research-oriented, international university with distinctive features”, and to comprehensively advance the construction of Jiangsu University into a “Double First-class University” and the construction of High-Level Universities of Jiangsu Province.

III. Qualifications

An outstanding PhD/postdoctoral research fellow (with priority to an applicant from Top 200 colleges & universities in the world or one with more than 3 years of overseas working experience), or an assistant professor (or the equivalent) or above in a renowned college or university.

IV. Application

An applicant shall make the application via the portal (Website: https://ding.cjfx.cn/f/nzdd3lh5), uploading “13th Jiangsu University Jinshan High-level Academic Forum Registration Form” and “13th Jiangsu University Jinshan High-level Academic Forum Registration Form Summary Sheet” in the form of attachment. The related school or college will arrange for an interview assessment, and the applicants to pass the assessment shall be submitted in a summary form to the Human Resources Office of Jiangsu University. Those to pass the final review of the University will be included in the List of Talents for the 2020 Forum.

V. Supporting Policies

1.Travel reimbursement: The University will provide the talents invited for academic exchanges on campus (hereinafter referred to as “invited talents”) with the reimbursement for reasonable travel expenses that cover round-trip air tickets (economy class) for their visit to Jiangsu University for academic exchanges within one year. The maximum sum of reimbursement is: RMB 14,000/person for talents from Europe and America, RMB 10,000/person for talents from Asian countries, and RMB 5,000/person for talents from China’s Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan.

2. The invited talent (in natural sciences or engineering) to win an Outstanding Overseas Youth Project with Jiangsu University as the affiliation may be directly recruited as Jinshan Distinguished Professor (Type A), will be offered, in addition to the state grant, an annual salary of RMB 600,000-700,000 and an initiation research fund of more than RMB 3,000,000 and enjoy other related favorable policies.

3. The invited talents shall be given prioritized recommendation in applying for “Jiangsu Innovative and Entrepreneurial Talents Recruitment Project”. A selected innovative and entrepreneurial team shall be offered a talent fund totaling RMB 3,000,000, RMB 5,000,000 or RMB 8,000,000, respectively, within three years by the Finance Department of Jiangsu Province. A selected innovative and entrepreneurial PhD shall be offered a living allowance totaling RMB 150,000 within two years by the Finance Department of Jiangsu Province.

4. An invited talent shall be given prioritized recommendation in applying for the title of “Jiangsu Distinguished Professors”. The title winner shall be granted an annual job subsidy of RMB120,000 (exempted from individual income tax) within three years by the Finance Department of Jiangsu Province. A talent of natural sciences shall be granted a research fund of RMB1,000,000 (The maximum grant is RMB2,000,000 for an exceptional talent), and a talent of social sciences shall be given a research fund of RMB 500,000.

5. An invited talent shall be given prioritized recommendation in applying for talent treatments like “Zhenxing” Talent Program, with a maximum grant of RMB 10,000,000 to a top talent (team) or an even higher grant (with no maximum limit) for an outstanding talent (team).
