The School of Food and Biological Engineering (FBE) organized a seminar on Dec. 1, 2022 to discuss how to manage language in order to write effective papers and good research proposals for various funding agencies and how to write a systematic review of literature in a major journal. Dr Ngolong Ngea Guillaume Legrand and Dr. Haroon Elrasheid Tahir, shared their professional or academic knowledge on different topics and presented their experience of research in the facilities offered by Jiangsu University.

As faculty member and post-doctoral researcher, both experts presented their recent results in their innovative research areas and discussed issues of practical interest for communication of research. Briefly, Dr. Ngolong Ngea Guillaume Legrand explained how to innovate by thinking about how we can link our topic to the interest of a particular funding agency and gave some basic rules of grammar to be understood by the reader and to communicate our ideas well. Dr Ngolong also share is knowledge about how to emphasize a statement. Besides, Dr. Haroon Elrasheid Tahir shared the difference between the different types of reviews, including narrative review, systematic review, and meta-analysis. He focused on explaining the basic steps of writing a systematic review with practical examples. All these presentations were very informative for the audience, including teachers, post-doctoral researchers, PhD students and master students, who were satisfied with their expectations at the end of the seminar. This seminar will certainly contribute to the improve the capabilities and achievements of researchers who work at Jiangsu University.
